#300
Did you marry a doctor?
Does he make you feel safe?
Are the evenings less lonely
knowing your lover stays placed?
Have you ticked all the boxes,
in job, house and home?
Is there any part of you left
thats the girl i’d once known?

Fate’s familiar hand,
her graffiti rounding ever corner,
friends faces that never change
only numbers getting older,
the memories and chapters,
equate to late night laughter
our permission for ourselves
lies deep ever in us,
our roads might be lonely
unless we invite divine circumstance

Please look to these eyes
please, take a quick note,
i know it changes nothing,
but i need you to know,
that this man is in pain,
and he wants to go back home,
back to the rolling hills of Anywhere,
guarded safe by the far away.

Staying steady under that
relentless storm of sorrows,
Fate’s soles grinding on your
knuckles as you cling with everything
holding tight above that
constant, horrible, abyss.
Even if the sky was blue,
the day was grey,
cold so dire, you’d be sent
storming for shelter,
and only to move to worse shores.
Yet, we must keep moving,
i suppose its all there is.
it’s all we are.

Don’t hold your breath
you must fight against
all of the excitement,
just let it slowly pass,
as the minutes, and the hours,
continue their careful, twirling, dance.
i had hope held close once,
and somehow i lost it,
through my knitted fingers,
past my watchful eye.
Now i sit here with my warning
and a slow start of bad posture.
